A box of letters and documents unearthed from a desk at Northampton’s Academy of Music revealed a mysterious story of scandal, power & politics that played out at the Academy in the early 1940s. Amazed at what the documents unleashed, the Academy’s Executive Director Debra J’Anthony ultimately realized she had a play on her hands and proposed the project to UMass theater professor Harley Erdman. WGBY Producer Marla Zippay & Videographer Marc Rhinehart set out to learn more about the documents and how they’ll become a play, during a recent conversation with the two of them.
