Social media enables you to stay in touch with family and friends and network with new contacts, but with the rise of “selfies”, (taking a self-picture usually with your cell phone and then posting it online) it can lead to devastating results. Dr. Susan Whitbourne is an author and psychology professor at UMASS Amherst and she recently wrote an article entitled “Your Body on Display: Social Media and Your Self Image”. She discusses that article and more with Connecting Point’s Aliz Koletas
Valley Gives
Community Foundation of Greater Springfield President Katie Zobel discussed the plans and hopes for the second “Valley Gives” campaign happening on December 12. Western Mass residents are invited to make on-line contributions to local non-profits in a concentrated 24 hour time-frame. Local attorney/philanthropist Paul Doherty, an originator of the “Valley Gives” concept and a representative from a non-profit agency aided by this effort, also joins us.

Pearl Harbor Veteran
Robert Greenleaf is Westfield’s only living survivor of the December 7th 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Greenleaf was just 19 years old when the attack happened, and he shares his memories of that day.
