After years of planning, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), General Electric (GE), and the cities and towns along the river finally reached an agreement to clean-up the PCB-polluted Housatonic River. The public can commend on the proposal through August 28, 2020.
The controversial proposal includes the storage of some PCB contaminated sediment at a site in the Berkshires. A move many in the Berkshires had opposed for years. GE and the EPA say the proposed clean-up plan will be faster and better.
Tim Gray, Executive Director of the Housatonic River Initiative, opposes the EPA’s clean-up plan. Gray joined Connecting Point‘s Carrie Saldo to share his perspective.
