After years of planning, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), General Electric (GE), and the cities and towns along the river finally reached an agreement to clean-up the PCB-polluted Housatonic River. The public can commend on the proposal through August 28, 2020.

The controversial proposal includes the storage of some PCB contaminated sediment at a site in the Berkshires. A move many, including the Berkshire Environmental Action Team (BEAT), had opposed for years.

But BEAT supports the latest version of the clean-up plan. BEAT Executive Director Jane Winn says the current plan makes the best of a bad situation.  Why did BEAT change its position? Winn explained that to Connecting Point’s Carrie Saldo.
