Springfield is one step closer to opening the city’s first retail marijuana store. Earlier this month, 6 Bricks LLC was granted a provisional license by the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission.
CEO Payton Shubrick, a Springfield native, has been developing the business plan for 6 Bricks for more than a year. Shubrick says it’s too soon to say when 6 Bricks will be ready to open, but the provisional license is the first step.
Shubrick spoke with Carrie Saldo about the process and the industry, including why there are few women and people of color leading recreational marijuana business ventures in Massachusetts.
