The Real Cost of Prisons Project is a Northampton-based organization that focuses on ending what its supporters call extreme sentencing, such as life in prison without the possibility of parole. A proposed change to a law in Massachusetts could give those serving life sentences a parole hearing after twenty-five years. Carrie Saldo asked Lois Ahrens, Founding Director of The Real Cost of Prisons Project, why she supports this change.
