September is Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Month. According to the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, one in fifty people live with some form of paralysis. The medical expenses in the first year after an injury can be upwards of $700,000 for someone with high tetraplegia (considered severely injured). Jenn McCormick, a West Springfield mom whose 19-year-old son Conor is a spinal cord injury survivor and advocate, spoke about the realities of living with a spinal cord injury.
