The images from a crowded climb season on Mount Everest—including a line of people on Hillary Step, a nearly vertical rock face on the trail—are astonishing. Reports say eleven hikers have died trying to top the mountain in the last month. Some believe the crowded conditions this season are making an already dangerous journey even more perilous. Longmeadow resident Mike Matty topped Everest in 2011. Matty joined Carrie Saldo to share just how treacherous the journey to the top of Mount Everest can be.
