It has been a year since Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico. Like thousands of others, Joanna Colon was displaced by Hurricane Maria. Colon came to Massachusetts shortly before the hurricane hit, but intended to return to the island after the storm. She never got that opportunity.
Now a Springfield resident, Colon sat down with Carolee McGrath to share a very personal story of how Hurricane Maria changed the lives of her entire family—including her husband and two children, as well as her parents and siblings still in Puerto Rico, struggling to rebuild.
