Several years ago I was approached by the non-profit group Community Involved in Sustaining Agriculture (CISA) and asked if I would have an interest in producing a monthly agricultural segment for our Connecting Point program. I agreed and since then CISA’s Executive Director Phil Korman along with myself have visited nearly 50 farms around the region highlighting the good, but challenging, work our local farmers do every day. You can watch these here:
As I put these stories together I discovered a common theme with all farmers; they are passionate about the work they do and the land they farm is some of the best in the world.
In July these stories, along with additional interviews and footage, will blossom into a full length documentary entitled “A Long Row in Fertile Ground” to air on WGBY Wednesday July 9 at 8PM. My hope is to give you a peak into the lives of farmers and to highlight the passion they have for the work they do. If you are a supporter of local agriculture you probably know the value of the farms we have in this region but even if you just appreciate the landscape around you, I think you will find this program interesting to watch.
