The Springfield Police Department has been in the news recently. On Friday, the ACLU of Massachusetts sued the city after the department failed to turn over demographic data of its interactions with the public. On Saturday, student protesters took to the streets calling for the removal of officers from public schools.

For perspective, Carrie Saldo spoke with City Council President Justin Hurst and Councilor Orlando Ramos, chair of the Public Safety Committee. Councilor Ramos has also called for a ban on officers using chokeholds.
